This article is specified for all of those who have middle back pain and no longer know what solution to adopt. Also, you will understand why all the solutions you have adopted so far have been useless. Back pains, in addition to the classic low back pain that affects the lower back, can also be located in the central part of the back on the diaphragm.
Let’s begin with a bit of anatomy to better comprehend: back pain indicates the presence of pain in the spine between D1 and D12, or the 12 dorsal vertebrae, the central ones in the spine.
This part of the back is the least affected by painful symptoms, above all because the dorsal vertebrae, articulating with ribs, move much less and are subjected to less stress than the others.
Cervicalgia or lower back pain are usually more commonly mentioned rather than dorsalgia (ie back pain).
Often those who suffer from this have problems with:
- scoliosis;
- accentuated dorsal kyphosis;
- neck pain;
- asymmetry of shoulder height;
- accentuated cervical lordosis;
- breathing problems.
The starecta team is specialized and focuses primarily on upper back pain from a biomechanical postural point of view and offers a truly innovative solution which is called the Rectifier. Before talking about this instrument all other possible causes of pain in the upper back should be excluded.
Middle Back Pain: Medical Tests To Be Performed
We recommend first contacting your pysician for a first visit. Before acting from a postural point of view, it is important to ensure by excluding that serious illnesses that require a specific specialist.
By omitting the “serious” causes, we proceed with the simplest and cheapest examination: the RX X-ray.
This quick and most of all inexpensive test performed in both frontal and sagittal projection (patient positioned frontally and sideways), makes us think on many counts. First, it excludes traumatic causes like vertebral fractures, providing us with a real clinical posture overall view and vertebral alignment, by demonstrating the presence of pathologies such as scoliosis. As a matter of fact, they sometimes cause these types of pain in the central part of the back.
Dorsal Magnetic Resonance only if some doubt persists, it is required to further discuss with a more specific examination. In this case, a magnetic resonance imaging or CAT scan will be required. The ligamentous capsule apparatus of the column will be studied with a resonance imaging, by closely paying attention to the intervertebral discs. In case of a vertebral fracture or collapse, it will be useful to diagnose if the fracture is recent or old. The bone aspect will also be studied better with a CAT scan, although it is rarely required as an examination in this type of pathology.
An ultrasound scan is often possible in case of a muscular trauma, to better study the muscular system of the area between the shoulder blades or behind the shoulders up to the lumbar area. It is a rare type of examination and is carried out only in the presence of doubts that are not dispelled by a general clinical examination with a doctor, or to confirm a theory. It is also used for the diagnosis and study of the presence of lipoma, especially to study its behavior and to ascertain the benign nature, as well as to monitor the growth over time of the outgrowth.
In any case, an instrumental evaluation is fundamental, always if it is associated with a specialist visit that makes hypotheses about the causes of pain in the central area of the back.
Middle Back Pain: The Wrong Methods To Solve It
Despite of everything, we can resort to numerous remedies when pain persists which can be of help in alleviating the problem.
- The most common are painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, which are usually effective when the pain is sporadic and not too intense. They are available in oral form or if you want to avoid possible complications on a gastric level, in the form of patches, ointments and gels for local use, to be applied directly on the skin where the pain is located. In this case the release of the active ingredient is slower, but still effective. Painkillers do not remove the cause of pain but provide temporary relief.
- Cold packs or ice are useful, especially for traumas and recent injuries or for pain due to arthritis, to reduce inflammation. On the other hand, to relax tense and contracted muscles, hot packs can also provide relief. This remedy also serves to give relief and not to resolve the problem to the main cause.
- When the pain is recurrent, too intense or prolonged in time, they usually do not respond to this type of remedies and it becomes necessary to contact a doctor, who will be able to correctly identify the causes of the pain and set an appropriate therapy: if not treated properly, previous injuries can cause recurring pain, even after some time.
- It is also possible to exclude the surgical option, often chosen when other therapies do not work and in people in which it does not represent a risk. There are also pathologies for which surgery, represent the best solution: as mentioned, it is a rarer diagnosis in this type of pain than the one located in the lumbar area, the herniated disc can also occur in the upper back part, often due to a degeneration of the intervertebral discs that can often emerge with advancing age. This solution seems very extreme and probably not even resolutive.
- Osteopathic treatments, acupuncture and massage therapy that give relief without solving the root of the problem are very popular.
- Going to the gym is not correct because it shortens even more all those muscle chains that compress and crush the dorsal area and the scapula and shoulder joints.
Middle Back Pain: The Original Starecta Solution
The positioning of the skull on the mandible, helps guide the spine and consequently the posture of the whole body. We must think of the placement of the skull on the mandible as if it were a rudder that governs the ship (the vertebral column). If the wheel (the mandible) is not aligned, the vessel (the vertebral column) begins to curve and the same is true for the cervico mandibular skull system.
If the skull is not perfectly aligned in the three planes of space (frontal, transversal, sagittal plane) that is x, y, z, it follows with the vertebral column being forced, due to biomechanical laws, to curve or create misalignments of the various bone segments (ie. one shoulder higher than the other or pelvis rotated etc.)
Even if particular curvatures are not visible, often accentuated kyphosis, lordosis, and scoliosis are present. However, there are great muscular compensations that keep our skeleton together so it won’t collapse. To better understand, it is similar to the concept on which the tower of Pisa is based. If you want to see in detail how this postural biomechanism works, please read: Body Posture Depends on Teeth.
We must note that thanks to the Rectifier, this tool is able to balance the entire body by improving your posture in a completely natural way, consequently your back will have an immediate benefit.
The vertebral column is made up of many small bone segments which are the vertebrae. It is separated by vertebral discs that give elasticity and protection to the spine and the marrow that passes inside it. The spine supports our skull together with the mandible as demonstrated in this scientific article (we insert our article) thanks to a system of levers.
Due to stress or bad dental work, the support of the jaw to the skull is missing, all the weight of the latter would weigh on the spine. At this point the column will have to find strenuous compensation to prevent the subject from walking in a crooked manner.
In fact the weight of the skull, generated both by the force of gravity and by its own masseter and temporal muscles that work badly without an adequate molar ratio, crushes the vertebrae and all intervertebral discs.
Moreover the body compensating for the weight of the skull will begin to twist on itself, to become asymmetrical, crooked, kyphotic, lordotic causing back pain due to the compression of the nerves, bones, tendons and muscles.
You can see in detail the phases of postural decay caused by an incorrect mandibular skull relationship. As we set aside ideas of the general audience, what other solutions are there? In this case: none!
Of course, none so far. In fact, Starecta has invented a plug and play postural device capable of acting on the postural bio-mechanism. This dental bite called Rectifier works our jaw like a lever capable of supporting the skull and repositioning it in its correct posture in order to stretch the spine and balance the muscles of the whole body.
When the skull is supported by the Plug and Play Rectifier, the entire spine is extended, the cervical lordosis, dorsal kyphosis and lumbar lordosis are spread. As a result, the shoulder blades return and the rib cage expands with the release of the diaphragm. This process occurs naturally and benefits the health of the whole body. In addition, the body becomes balanced, occurring on the sagittal, frontal and transverse plane. The shoulders and head are aligned and consequently the postural loads are distributed correctly.
The redistribution of loads in the correct posture reduces pain and makes the body acquire mobility without the aid of painkillers or other unnecessary remedies.
For those who suffer from kyphosis, scoliosis, lordosis and other types of body asymmetries there is nothing more wrong than to listen to some weird trainer who invites you to strengthen and lengthen some muscle chains.
These people have no serious problems and do not understand what it really means to suffer from these diseases. Moreover, their studies have never gone beyond what the academic sciences offer and what they all recommend in the end.
The only real way to be able to solve these problems and resolve the pain in the central part of the back is to wear an instrument that acts directly on the postural bio-mechanism.
How Does The Rectifier Affect Body Posture?
The Rectifier acts by activating the mandibular lever effect. In practice, the Rectifier bite acts as a fulcrum transforming the mandible into a neutral or disadvantageous third-order lever with fulcrum in the TMJ area (temporomandibular joint), in a lever of the first kind advantageous for fulcrum in the molar and premolar area, ie right there where the Rectifier bite is placed and activated.
When the mandibular lever is activated as a first-order lever, the Rectifier is able to push the skull back and up, stretching the spine and making it possible to correct the usual posture. Consequently also the extension of the central vertebrae draws an important benefit.
You will definitely feel a constant stretching and balancing action throughout the entire body. Try to keep your head, shoulders and back straight, without any effort. In this way, the pain in the central and upper part of the back disappears. Not to mention that the Plug and Play Rectifier is also the solution for many other postural problems related to this. Put aside any ideas of the mainstream, what other solutions are there? Definitely none!
